Program Description
The Firefighter Professional Diploma is a sequence of courses designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials necessary to pursue careers in the fire service. The program prepares individuals for employment in both paid and volunteer fire departments and offers a comprehensive pathway to firefighter certification. Students enrolled in the program will receive instruction in firefighting operations, fire service practices, emergency response, and incident management. In addition to firefighter training, students will have the opportunity to earn CPR certification and complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses, including NIMS 100, 200, and 700, enhancing their preparedness for emergency response environments. The program is available to both high school students through dual enrollment opportunities and to high school graduates seeking entry into the fire service profession. Students may earn college credit while completing program requirements and developing the competencies necessary for success in the fire service. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to complete the certification process to obtain Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications. This diploma provides a structured pathway for individuals seeking professional firefighter certification and careers in the fire service.
