Program Description
The Clinical Office Assistant program will prepare graduates to work in the back office of a physician's office, clinic or other outpatient facilities rooming patients, performing vital signs, performing EKGs and other office procedures such as suture and staple removal, and performing infection control procedures that include sanitizing and sterilization activities. In addition, the curriculum focuses on collection/examination of specimens and CLIA regulations/risk management; urinalysis; venipuncture; hematology and chemistry evaluations; applied clinical microbiology; advanced reagent testing (Strep Test, HcG etc); a review of anatomy and physiology and diseases of the body systems. It also Introduces pharmacology; dosage calculation; sources and forms of medications; classification of medications; administration of medications; and medication effects on the body systems.
Entrance Requirements
Must meet at least one of the following requirements to be admitted to the program:
1. Be currently employed as a Back Office Tech in a medical office.
2. Have completed MATH 1012, ALHS 1011, and ALHS 1090.
