Academic Support Centers
Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) provides free academic support for all enrolled students through Academic Support Centers. Academic Support Centers (ASC) are located on all campuses with the exception of the Polk County Campus. GNTC Academic Support Centers are staffed by qualified tutors. Each ASC provides tutoring services for English, math, business, and computer technology. At some locations, additional tutoring is available in other subject areas such as accounting, allied health, economics, and physics.
For students taking online classes or who cannot make it to an Academic Support Center, GNTC also provides online tutoring. Online tutoring is available through links provided within the student’s Blackboard class portal. Online students may choose to utilize GNTC tutors by self- enrolling in the Blackboard Academic Support Center, access tutoring assistance at NetTutor, an outside online tutoring service, or visit one of the ASC locations.
GNTC Academic Support Centers provide students, faculty, and staff with customized training, instructional support, and individual assistance. In addition to tutoring, each Academic Support Center offers additional services such as workshops, test readers and proctors, placement test remediation, and preparation for required program tests such as the HESI and PSB exams. Workshop offerings vary each semester and students may check the website for updates. Students needing a test reader or proctor must be approved for this ADA accommodation through Accessibility Services. Accommodations for students such as test readers or proctor must be scheduled in advance. Please email the Accessibility Services Coordinator for more information about accessibility services and testing accommodations. Information regarding tutor absences and schedule updates are posted on the GNTC social media page.
